Hello, readers! I have a quick announcement: You can now read The Happy Wanderer in the new Substack app for iPhone.
With the app, you’ll have a dedicated Inbox for my Substack and any others you subscribe to. New posts will never get lost in your email filters, or stuck in spam. Longer posts will never be cut off by your email app. Comments and rich media will all work seamlessly. Overall, it’s a big upgrade to the reading experience. [The last few sentences were written by the folks at Substack; what follows is by me.] I downloaded the app yesterday and was impressed by how seamless and easy the experience is. Here’s all you need to do:
Click on the button above to get the app. It’s free, and there are no ads, ever.
The app will ask for the email address you use to receive The Happy Wanderer.
You will get an email asking you to confirm. When you click the link, all your Substack subscriptions will automatically appear in the app.
You can set the app to notify you when there are new posts and comments, but if this is annoying, you can turn off notifications. You can also set the app so that you stop getting emails from Substack, but, again, if you prefer to get the emails, you can continue that way. And you can change your settings back at any time. If you delete the app, The Happy Wanderer will again arrive in your email inbox.
That’s it! The interface on the app is clean and elegant, and if you’re a neat freak like me who gets anxious when you have too many emails in your inbox, this app is the perfect solution!
If you would like more information, you can check out the information page, which includes a helpful video, here. Thanks everyone!
